Poet-Writer Dr. Ana Stjelja: When did you
start writing?
Poet/Author Fikret Çelik: I started writing poetry in high
school. My first poem was published in the journal Edebiyat Kültür ve
Sanat (Literature Culture and Art) while I was studying at the
University.
Poet-Writer Dr. Ana Stjelja: When did you usually find
inspiration for your poetry?
Poet/Author Fikret Çelik: The source of my poem; I can say that
the street I walk on, the stone wall I touch, the tree I see, a sparrow placed
in front of the window, humans, nature, and love.
Poet-Writer Dr. Ana Stjelja: How
would you define poetry as an art and what it means to you?
Poet/Author Fikret Çelik: Poetry, for me, is the air that
breathes art, the atmosphere of the world.
Poet-Writer Dr. Ana Stjelja: Do you have
some favourite poets, whether of Turkish or foreign literature?
Poet/Author Fikret Çelik: I can name Orhan Veli Kanık,
Edip Cansever, Murathan Mungan and many more names from Turkish literature.
From Foreign Literature, Pablo Neruda, Louis Aragon, and Edgar Allan Poe are
the ones that come to my mind right now.
Poet-Writer Dr. Ana Stjelja: Tell us
a bit more about your poetry books and which one you are the most proud of?
Poet/Author Fikret Çelik: My first poetry book, titled Sonrası (After),
was published in March 2018 and had two editions. My 2nd Poetry book, Kuş
Yokuşu (The Bird Slope), was published in January 2022. There are
mainly lyric and didactic poetry types: Love, mythology, human and social life,
anxieties, and hope. Both of my books are important to me.
Poet-Writer Dr. Ana Stjelja: How do
you see poetry in the future. Will it change and go through some kind of
transformation?
Poet/Author Fikret Çelik: As long as human being exists,
poetry will exist. Poetry is influenced by the age in which people live. In the
future, besides reading poetry, I think it will be listened to on digital
platforms rather than read in the developing digital age.
Poet-Writer Dr. Ana Stjelja: What are
your current writing plans? Are you planning to publish some new book?
Poet/Author Fikret Çelik: I have a short story book work in my
hand. I just released my second poetry book.
Poet-Writer Dr. Ana Stjelja: Thank you for your questions.
Poet/Author Fikret Çelik: You're welcome
